Even negative publicity is good publicity. That is the motto of the celebrities. And Iraj has understood this concept well. Last year Iraj produced "Giniyam Rae (ගිනියම් රෑ)" which was so controversial that the video hit a million views within a week or so. So us perverts have watched the video at least a couple times. Iraj's whole ancestry was blamed, but in the end Iraj got a YouTube video with a million view-probably the only Sri Lankan music video to do so.
And he continues the tradition in 2017 with another 'controversial' music video. This time it's "Ashawari (ආශාවරී)", a story about a girl going into a club, getting drunk AF and ending up sleeping with multiple people.
This is quite controversial for Sri Lanka, and Iraj knows just the amount of teasing to do to get us revved up. We are shown a condom being passed on from one guy to another. At least they used protection!
Call me traditional, but I don't understand why she went to a club without her boyfriend and worst of all why did she get drunk out of her mind. Bad decisions seem to be the theme of the video. Oh also, Ashawari is shown in some nice Nike underwear. That adds to the hype too!
"Ashawari" has not gained popularity as much as "Giniyam Rae" did, maybe because the latter had full on nudity and some girl-on-girl action. More perverted the video-the more views it gets. And why should we blame Iraj for that? He caters to demand! 😁
